OCTOBER 2007

Written and Edited by Raj Kumar Chawla, Ph.D

Greetings, Mooj Heads!

The new Psychedelic Mooj album, The Spirit of 1974, is finally available!

This album, considered by some to be the best guitar-dominated rock album in the last 30 years, is (for a limited time) being given away for free. Yes, anyone (loyal fan or not) is invited to download and enjoy this incredible album. Please share it with all your friends and family.

How is it possible that The #1 Ranked Worldwide Psychedelic Blues Band by Google, Yahoo and MSN can give their new album away for free? The answer is quite simple. The P-Mooj value their fans more than anything and feel this is the best way to thank them and show their appreciation for years of loyal support and energy.

There is Other Good News! The band has finally found a permanent drummer to replace Tracy. They are pleased to announce that Chris Stevens has come aboard for the long haul. He is awesome. Look for him at the next P-Mooj show!

Speaking of drummers, the band expresses their sincerest gratitude to Mike Ketchula and Glenn Zendrum for 'pinch hitting' in the drummer's slot during this past summer's shows. Mike is an awesome drummer and can be heard on "Oh Yeah" (a Spirit of 1974 outtake that can be downloaded from the audio page of the official site). Glenn Z. also spent some time helping the P-Mooj do some shows and can be seen on stage with the gang at The Marquee Theater on this Youtube Video. Glenn is master of the Zen Drum. Glenn is often seen in town performing with his band Dog Patch Trio

Now that the new album is out I expect wonderful things to happen as we head into 2008. Look for our favorite band to play many more shows!

IT'S SHOW TIME!

A Review of Latest P'Mooj Shows by Dr. Raj K. Chawla, the Most Loyal Mooj Head There Ever Was!

One on my jobs as President of The P'Mooj Fan Club is to attend all P'Mooj shows and report back to my fellow Mooj Heads. Here is a recap of last late summer's most memorable shows:

Show #45: Wednesday, August 8, 2007, Hollywood Alley: The P-Mooj finally returned to the famed Hollywood Alley for a mid-week night of blues mayhem and madness. They were scheduled to open for a band but that band never showed up. Thus, to everyone's delight, the P-Mooj took the stage at 10:00 PM and played until the closing bell was sounded. Glenn Zendrum sat in with the gang this night and mystified the crowd with his amazing Zen drum explosions. The band had hoped to record the show but there were some technical problems (the technical problem was no one remembered to bring a blank CD).

Show #46: Saturday, August 11, 2007, Goat Head Saloon: The P-Mooj and Dog Patch Trio teamed up with Chocolate Fountain for an amazing night of blistering jazz and blues. Glenn Zendrum performed with both his band (Dog Patch Trio) and The P-Mooj. The full-house crowd loved all three bands and I doubt The Goat Head Saloon has rocked that hard since.

Show #47: Saturday, August 18, 2007, Marquee Theater: Once again our favorite psychedelic blues band was asked to join The Marquee Theater for a night of Tribute Band Gala. This show was headlined by The Atomic Punks (The best Classic Van Halen Tribute band there is)! Other bands included BS (Bon Scott era AC/DC); Too Fast for Love (Motley Crue); and Anthem (Rush). Most of the fans in attendance thought they were seeing a Psychedelic Mooj Tribute band--imagine their delight when they learned that they were seeing the real thing!!!!

Show #48: Friday, October 19, 2007, Club Red: The P-Mooj was invited to join 11 other bands for the First Annual Zamjobna Jam Band Festival. This was an awesome night of great music and the sell-out crowd gave this show an added sense of excitement. Such great acts as Shawn Johnson and Jeff Hunt were included in the show.

What's The Buzz?

Here's The Latest Band News:

THOUSANDS EXPECTED WHEN P-MOOJ PLAYS FREE CONCERT IN DESERT FOOTHILLS PARK OCTOBER 28th!

They've played stadiums, concert halls, theaters, bars, care centers, sandwich shops ... and NOW THEY'RE FINALLY GOING TO PLAY A PARK! We Hope to see everyone this Sunday, as the P-Mooj rocks Ahwatuckee!

Everyone is talking about the Concert in the park. The Ahwatukee Foothills News did a nice story about The P-Mooj in anticipation of their Concert in the Park show (Link).  This show promises to be a night to remember. Bill is a resident of the foothills and hopes that after the show he will be his neighborhood's most famous rock star (now that that guy everyone thought was Rod Stewart no longer lives in that big brown house on the top of the hill).

AN ADDED BONUS: Rumor has it that the P-Mooj will open the October 28th show with one of their new songs. It will give you a flavor of what's in store for you on their third album. I am told it was co-written by Dave, Richard and Bill and is heavily influenced by Tommy Bolin. I can't wait to hear it.

THE SPIRIT OF 1974!

While recording the new album Bill kept detailed notes and wrote a few thoughts about how and why things were recorded as they were. Please feel free to read through them. I certainly did! CLICK HERE TO READ BILL'S STUDIO NOTES.

Ask Dr. Raj!

I have many duties as president of The Psychedelic Mooj Fan Club, including this one (i.e., addressing questions and/ or concerns of my fellow Mooj Heads). If you would like to participate in this forum, remit your correspondence to:

moojhead@gmail.com

Okay, let's open my mailbox and see what's on fellow P-Mooj fan club members' minds.

Hey, Dr. Raj!

I saw you backstage at The Marquee Theater. You are so much more handsome and rugged looking in real life compared to your match.com picture. I would have said hello to you except that you were passed out and being dragged by your feet  through the back door by security personnel. Hopefully next time we can hook up!

moojminionette07

Thank you for your compliment, my friend! Which Marquee Theater show are you talking about? I was dragged foot-wise from that theater many times.

Dr. Raj,

I've been to several P-Mooj concerts and don't recall seeing you at any of the shows. Are you that guy that wears the rainbow wig and holds up that "Peaceful Co-Existence" sign? If you are then maybe I have seen you!

Jill S.

No. I am not that guy. I doubt he is even a true Psychedelic Mooj fan. I'd confront him about his heckling and obnoxious dancing but I don't want to get hit over the head with his sign again.

Dr. Raj,

What are my chances of getting into The P-Mooj Fan Club? I once belonged to the Kiss Army. I also have an Aerosmith tattoo on one of my private parts. Let me know.

Moojbabe2

My friend, just wanting to be in The P-Mooj fan club is all you need. However, Dr. Raj would like to see that tattoo to verify that you are who you say you are.

Dr. Raj,

Is it my imagination or is The P-Mooj getting better and better with every show? I just saw them at The Red Owl and they kicked major-league a_s!

Yes, you see and hear correct! The P-Mooj IS getting better with every show!

Notice: There is nothing official, whatsoever, about this newsletter. Some Members of The Psychedelic Mooj don't even know it exists. It is published for no reason other than to spread The Word about The P'Mooj, The Greatest Unknown Band in Arizona. Dr. Raj is also a prominent member of The Friends of Mooj Society. To Learn More about Guru Mooj, Click Here.  The band Psychedelic Mooj has no affiliation with Guru Mooj and it is purely co-incidental that they share the whole "Mooj" name thing.  Many of the followers of Guru Mooj are also fans of the band--again, a coincidence.
