Hi Ram,
Your idea about learning of what use our training in nuclear propulsion is to us, is a good idea (excuse the grammar). I also have nver set foot in a power plant, Nuke or otherwise, except to do service. I work for the Analytical division of PerkinElmer, www.perkinelmer.com, as a Customer Support Engineer (Field Service Tech). I actually work on pumps that are very similiar to the reactor charging pumps, only much smaller (10 inches x 6 inches x 4 inches excluding electronics). I install, maintain, and repair pumps and other instruments for a variety of customers. These
include pharmaceutical companies, biotech co., environmental labs, hospitals, manufacturing plants, and right now, the Brunswick Nuke power plant in Southport, NC. I would say the maintenance training (RPPMS), while in the Navy, has done me the most good. By the way, I actually joined the Navy Reserves for 2 years after I had been out for 2 years. It was not the same, and frankly has too much paperwork involved.
